Say What? A Parthenon in Nashville!

I've had the pleasure of exploring Nashville a few times over the years. I've flown into their airport quite a bit, little did I know there was a hidden surprise.

Right smack dab in the middle of the metropolis is a full scale replica of the ancient Greek Parthenon.

It was originally built in 1897, it was the centerpiece of the Centennial Exposition. Today is serves as the city's art museum. Inside they have a 42 foot statue of Athena.

If you have a few hours to kill while in Nashville, it's worth a gander. There is free parking and it's a short walk through the park. It's a beautiful place to wander if you have the time.

Your Trivia question for the day:

What is the largest city in Tennessee named after a former Egyptian capital?

Answer: Memphis
